HEARTLAND DEMOLISHED AT HOME; ENYIMBA, PILLARS ALSO LOSE
The goals rained down in torrents in the Glo Premier League in Sunday's Match Day 7. Twenty-five goals were scored which leaves match Day 7 tied with Match Day 2 as having the highest number of goals .
Sunday's games were not all about goals as Heartland once again fell short on their home ground, the Dan Anyiam Stadium and this time in humiliating fashion to Sunshine Stars. It remains the biggest home defeat of the season, erasing their 3-1 win in Ilorin over Kwara United.
Giwa FC are now top of the table again after Match Day 7 by a point.
Sharks 2-2 FC Taraba
It was a four-goal thriller in the early kickoff of the day in the Double Header in Port Harcourt. Sharks shared the points against a gutsy FC Taraba, who fought back twice to end the game 2-2. Thompson Stowe and Chiamaka Madu scored for Sharks while Mohammed Usman and Chinedu Ohanachom ensured the Jalingo club left the Garden City with something to cheer.
Dolphins 2-0 Lobi Stars
Two second half goals from Sochuma Elum and Jonathan Zikiye in the space of two minutes was enough to kill off Lobi's resistance. Lobi are still without a win this season while Dolphins got their second in seven games.
Gabros FC 2-0 Enyimba
Enyimba could not stand the time in the second half as they shipped in two goals that allowed Gabros FC win the Oriental Derby in Nnewi. Chukwudi Stephen and Chibuzor Okonkwo scored the goals for Gabros.
Giwa FC 3-1 Bayelsa Utd
Giwa FC climbed to the summit again for the second time this season with a convincing 3-1 win over Bayelsa United. The Jos-based club raced into a three-nil lead through Charles Okoro, Edoh Ocheme and Ibrahim Shuaibu before Tonbara Tiongoli scored a late goal for Bayelsa United. Giwa FC have 14 points from seven matches.
El-Kanemi 1-0 Akwa Utd
Sunday Adetunji scored the fastest goal of the match day but that was all to this game except for Akwa United's Aniekpeno Udoh who made it a personal battle between himself and the El-Kanemi goalkeeper Michael George at some point in the match.
Wikki 4-2 Rangers
It was a blitz of goals in Bauchi as Wikki ran over the Flying Antelopes 4-2. Mubarak Umar scored a brace for Wikki with Christopher Waziri and Uche Martins netting the other goals. Rangers could only respond through goals from Godwin Aguda and Bobby Clement. Interestingly all six goals were scored in the first half though Umar had a goal ruled out for offside as he was close to netting a hat-trick. Wikki are fourth on the table and Rangers are in the bottom-four.
Heartland 0-3 Sunshine Stars
Sunshine Stars produced the shocking result of the day winning 3-0 at Heartland. Tunde Adeniji scored twice and Prince Aggreh put the icing on the cake with a late goal. Heartland had their captain, Nelson Ogbonnaya sent off for a second bookable offence. Sunshine now sit in third place with 13 points and Heartland drop to sixth.
Nasarawa Utd 2-0 Abia Warriors
Second half goals from Malachy Iloh and Ugochukwu Leonard were just good enough for Nasarawa United to put Abia Warriors to the sword and climb into ninth position on the table. Abia Warriors are in 10th place.
Kwara United 1-0 Kano Pillars
The champions, Kano Pillars, continued their poor run on the road as they lost a second straight game - this time at Kwara United. Emmanuel Eviemere's 20th minute goal meant Pillars suffered another defeat on the back of last Thursday's one-nil loss at Heartland. The Kano club are now 11th while Kwara United occupy eighth position.
