Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker has said Alexis Sanchez is "definitely" staying at the club next season. Sanchez's future remains unclear as he is set to enter the last year of his contract, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reiterated on Tuesday that he will not sell the Chile international. And Mertesacker, who is retiring next season to take charge of Arsenal's academy, told Fox Sports in Australia that he is expecting to line up alongside Sanchez in his final year as a player. When asked if Sanchez is staying at Arsenal, Mertesacker said: "Yes, definitely. I think [Sanchez] was impressive in the Confederations Cup. Roma  climbed to second place in the Serie A table with a  2-0  home triumph over  Genoa  on Sunday afternoon. Seydou Doumbia put the hosts on their way in the 35th minute before Alessandro Florenzi doubled Roma's lead seconds from time to condemn Genoa to their 10th defeat of the season. The outcome at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma's second straight win, lifted the Giallorossi two points above city rivals Lazio. Lazio, however, have an opportunity to leapfrog Roma into second if they win at Atalanta later on Sunday. The top two teams in Serie A will qualify directly for next season's Champions League. Lazio  failed to reclaim second spot after being held to a 1-1 draw at  Atalanta .
