CRICKET WORLD CUP: ENGLAND CRASHED OUT

ENGLAND have crashed out of the Cricket World Cup after a 15-run defeat to Bangladesh in Adelaide.
Bangladesh players celebrates the victory
Eoin Morgan's side have struggled throughout the tournament, claiming just one win in their first four matches.

However, going into their fifth match they knew they could still qualify for the knockout stages with victories in their final two games.

But they struggled again in Adelaide, as they failed to chase down the 275 posted by Bangladesh.

The inquest into England's dismal showing at the tournament will now commence, with boss Peter Moores coming under pressure to explain his side's below-par performance, while the likes of ECB chairman Giles Clarke and skipper Morgan will also be forced to defend their roles in the debacle down under

Jos Buttler looked to be on course to save the day for England when he made a quickfire 65 off 52 balls.

But after he edged a Taskin delivery to wicketkeeper Mushfique Rahim, the writing was on the wall for the struggling English.

Chris Jordan was controversially given out in the next over when the third umpire decided his bat was not grounded as he dived to make his ground despite unconvincing video evidence.

The wickets of Stuart Broad and James Anderson followed as England fell 15 runs short of their achievable target.

Earlier Morgan had put Bangladesh into bat where Mahmudullah struck his country's first World Cup century and starred in two key partnerships to lift Bangladesh to 275 for seven.
Despite a wicket offering little difficulty or demons, England made a mess of their reply.

Moeen Ali was needlessly run out when on 19 after a mix up with Ian Bell.

Bell went on to notch 63 off 82, but aside from Buttler's sturring knock, there was precious little quality shown by the England batsmen as their World Cup fate hung in the balance.

They eventually fell for 260 in 48.3 overs to end their shamoblic showing at the tournament.
Morgan will now have to lift his troops ahead of a dead rubber clash with Afghanistan.
